# 📰 How Journalist Outreach Works in an OmniCampaign

Journalist outreach is a media channel inside a PodPitch **OmniCampaign**. It uses the campaign's selected profile, journalist news hook, targeting, and connected sending email to create relevant media pitches.

You do not need a separate Journalist Pitch campaign or a separate journalist profile for the same story.

## 1. Prepare the shared profile

The profile should contain accurate background, expertise, credentials, current facts, and approved links.

## 2. Create a news hook

Add a short, timely story angle that explains what changed, why it matters, and who is affected.

The news hook guides journalist matching. It should be supported by the profile and any linked source material.

## 3. Configure journalist targeting

Review the journalist controls available in the OmniCampaign. These may include topic, recent coverage, location, outlet type, language, traffic or audience range, and publication recency.

Journalist filters are not necessarily the same as podcast or newsletter filters.

## 4. Review journalists and outlets

Open the recommended records and check recent work, beat, publication, activity, and relevance.

Remove or skip poor fits before outreach begins.

## 5. Review generated pitches

Confirm:

* The news hook
* Subject line
* Personalization
* Claims and statistics
* Links
* First-person or third-person perspective
* Sending address
* From name and signature

## 6. Choose a sending mode

Use Manual Mode while testing the angle. Use Smart Mode only after the targets and pitches are ready for automated outreach within the account's shared daily pitch capacity.

The **Off / Manual / Smart** control applies to the entire OmniCampaign, not only the media type you are viewing.

## Pause only journalist outreach

To stop journalist outreach without stopping the other media types in the OmniCampaign:

1. Open **Campaigns**.
2. Open the Multimedia OmniCampaign.
3. Stay on **Pitches**.
4. Select the **Journalists** media tab.
5. Select **Pause Journalists**.
6. Confirm that the Journalists tab shows **Paused**.

Podcast and newsletter outreach can continue according to the OmniCampaign's current mode and daily pitch allocation.

Do not select the campaign-wide **Off** control unless you want to stop outreach across every media type in that OmniCampaign.

If **Pause Journalists** is missing, confirm that the campaign is a current Multimedia OmniCampaign. Contact Support with the campaign name or ID and a redacted screenshot if the control still does not appear.

## 7. Manage replies

Replies arrive in the connected mailbox and, where supported, PodPitch reply tools such as Magic Inbox.

Read the complete thread and confirm the campaign context before responding.

## Keep the journalist workflow current

Pause or update journalist outreach when the news hook expires, a claim changes, or targeting begins producing poor fits. Rewrite eligible pending pitches after material changes.
