# 🔍 How PodPitch Finds Journalists for an OmniCampaign

PodPitch uses the journalist settings inside an **OmniCampaign** to recommend reporters and media outlets that may be relevant to the profile's news hook.

Journalists are one media channel in the campaign. Podcast and newsletter targeting use different information and should be reviewed separately.

## Signals used for matching

Available matching information may include:

* The campaign's news hook
* Topics or beats
* Recent articles
* Publication or outlet type
* Country, region, or city
* Language
* Audience or traffic information
* Publication activity and recency

The exact filters and data shown can vary by account and media record.

## Review every recommendation

Before sending, check:

1. **Recent work:** Has the journalist covered the topic recently?
2. **Beat:** Is the subject actually part of their role?
3. **Publication:** Is the outlet appropriate for the story?
4. **Location:** Does geography matter for this angle?
5. **Activity:** Does the journalist appear current and active?
6. **Duplication:** Has this contact already been pitched from another campaign?

A relevant outlet does not guarantee that every journalist at the outlet is a fit.

## Remove poor fits

Skip, exclude, or remove recommendations that clearly do not match the story. When PodPitch asks for a reason, provide specific feedback so future recommendations can improve.

If most recommendations are wrong, keep the OmniCampaign Off and revise the news hook or journalist targeting before sending.

## Personalization

Review the generated pitch against the journalist's recent coverage. Personalization should be accurate and useful, not based on an unrelated article or a guessed interest.

## Data can change

Journalists change roles, outlets, and beats. If a record appears outdated, do not send simply because it was recommended. Report the incorrect information to Support so it can be reviewed.
