# 📰 How to Import a Journalist List from a CSV

# How to Import a Journalist List from a CSV

Use the journalist import inside an OmniCampaign when you already have a list of reporters or editors you want to review and pitch.

Importing a file does not send pitches automatically. You can review the matched contacts before adding them to the campaign.

## Prepare your CSV

Use one row per journalist. Include as many of these columns as you have:

* full name
* email address
* publication or outlet
* publication website
* journalist profile or article URL
* notes that help identify the correct person

Remove duplicate rows and blank header names before uploading the file. Do not include passwords, private account details, or information you do not have permission to use.

## Open the journalist import

1. Open the OmniCampaign you want to use, or begin creating a new campaign.
2. Add or open the **Journalist** media channel.
3. Select the CSV or list-import option shown.
4. Upload the prepared file.

The exact button label can vary as the campaign builder is updated.

## Map your columns

Match each CSV column to the corresponding PodPitch field.

At minimum, map the columns that identify the journalist, such as name, email, publication, or profile URL. Leave unrelated columns unmapped.

Review the sample values before continuing. A column containing publication names should not be mapped as the journalist's name.

## Review the matches

PodPitch may group imported rows into results such as:

* matched contacts;
* contacts that need confirmation;
* contacts already in the campaign; and
* contacts that could not be matched.

When a journalist writes for more than one publication, confirm that you have selected the correct journalist-and-outlet combination.

## Add the confirmed contacts

1. Select the matches you want to use.
2. Resolve any contacts that need manual confirmation.
3. Exclude duplicates and irrelevant contacts.
4. Add the confirmed contacts to the journalist channel.
5. Review targeting, profile, connected email, and pitch settings before activating outreach.

The campaign's journalist channel uses the same OmniCampaign profile, pitch capacity, exclusions, and sending controls as its other media channels.

## Troubleshooting

If the file will not upload:

* save it as a standard CSV file;
* confirm that the first row contains column headers;
* remove merged cells and extra formatting;
* make sure each row contains one journalist; and
* try a smaller file if the upload is unusually large.

If a contact cannot be matched, add a publication or profile URL and try again. You can also contact Support through the chat in your PodPitch dashboard.
