# 🎯 How to Set and Review Targeting in an OmniCampaign

# How to Set and Review Targeting in an OmniCampaign

An OmniCampaign can include podcasts, journalists, and newsletters. Each media type has its own targeting controls, while the selected profile and campaign brief provide shared context.

## Build a strong targeting foundation

### Profile bio

The profile explains who is being pitched, their expertise, experience, and strongest story angles. Keep it accurate and focused.

### Topics and positive targeting

Choose the subjects, industries, audiences, and opportunity types you want. Use specific concepts rather than a long list of loosely related keywords.

### Matching Tip or Smart Filtering instructions

Use this area to describe what a good match looks like and what should be avoided.

Example:

> Prioritize podcasts for B2B founders and revenue leaders. Avoid general psychology, therapy, dating, and consumer wellness unless the content is specifically about workplace leadership.

Put matching rules here, not in email-writing instructions.

### Structured filters

Review the controls available for the selected media type. Podcast filters can include estimated listener ranges, Total Audience Reach, country-level location, and other podcast-specific choices. Journalist and newsletter controls are not identical.

## Review the preview before creating the campaign

The OmniCampaign preview can show up to ten initial matches. Each card may include:

- a Smart Fit score;
- an explanation of the score; and
- the outlet's recent episode, article, or post.

Use the thumbs-down or skip control when a match should not enter the campaign. The match is recorded in the Skipped list as skipped during OmniCampaign creation.

## Smart Fit and Smart Mode are different

- **Smart Fit** estimates how relevant a match is.
- **Smart Mode** controls automated sending and delivery.

A low Smart Fit match can be screened into the campaign's **Skipped** list. The list shows that Smart Fit rated the match 5/10 or below. A rating you submit takes priority over the machine's rating.

## Train PodPitch with structured ratings

When rating a match, choose at least one reason.

Negative reasons can include:

- wrong topic or industry;
- wrong audience;
- audience too small;
- does not interview guests;
- paid placement required; or
- Other.

Positive reasons can include:

- strong topic match;
- right audience;
- good audience size;
- interviews similar guests;
- strong story or expertise match; or
- Other.

Add a concise written explanation when the selected reason needs context.

## Listener range and Total Audience Reach

With **Match by Total Audience Reach** off, the selected range uses estimated monthly listeners. With it on, a podcast may qualify through listener and social-reach signals.

## Location targeting

Current podcast location controls are country-level. There is no dedicated state, province, region, or city filter. Use targeting instructions for local relevance, then verify the results manually.

## Episode count

Recent episode information helps evaluate activity and relevance, but a strict minimum episode-count filter is not a documented customer control unless it is visible in the account.

## Save and verify

After changing targeting:

1. save the settings;
2. review the next group of matches;
3. rate or skip poor matches with a specific reason;
4. review the Skipped list; and
5. investigate any result that falls outside a saved hard filter.

Contact Support with the campaign, media type, saved setting, and examples when results do not reflect the controls shown.
