# 🚀 How to Start Journalist Outreach in a New OmniCampaign

# How to Start Journalist Outreach in a New OmniCampaign

All new PodPitch campaigns are **OmniCampaigns**. To pitch journalists, create one OmniCampaign and configure journalist outreach as a media channel inside it.

## 1. Prepare the profile

Create or select the profile for the person, company, product, or story being promoted.

Include accurate background, expertise, achievements, current facts, and approved links.

## 2. Create the OmniCampaign

1. Open **Campaigns**.
2. Select **Create Campaign**.
3. Choose the profile.
4. Select the active sending address under **Email Addresses**.
5. Complete the core campaign brief.
6. Enable journalist outreach among the media types shown.

The same campaign can coordinate journalist outreach with podcasts, newsletters, and other available media sources.

## 3. Set the journalist angle

Add a focused news hook that explains what changed, why it matters, and why the profile is relevant.

Avoid a general company description or a long list of unrelated keywords.

## 4. Configure journalist targeting

Use the journalist-specific controls shown in the campaign. These may include:

- topic or beat;
- recent coverage;
- country, region, or city;
- outlet type;
- language;
- audience or traffic range; and
- publication recency.

Filters for journalists do not automatically apply to podcasts or newsletters.

## 5. Review journalists and outlets

Confirm that each recommended journalist:

- covers the topic;
- still appears active;
- works with the listed outlet;
- is appropriate for the story; and
- has not already been pitched for the same angle.

Remove or skip poor fits.

## 6. Review journalist pitches

Check subject lines, news hooks, personalization, claims, links, perspective, sender details, and signatures.

## 7. Choose how the campaign launches

On the final setup step:

- **Create campaign and start sending emails immediately** launches the entire OmniCampaign in Smart Mode. Eligible journalist and other enabled media outreach can begin automatically.
- **Create campaign and manually review first** creates the campaign without starting automated outreach.

Choose manual review when the journalist targets or pitches still need inspection.

After launch, use the **Journalists** tab under **Pitches** to review or pause only that media channel. Do not switch the whole OmniCampaign Off when the other media types should continue.

Continue monitoring replies, exclusions, outdated contact information, and targeting quality after outreach begins.
