How to Set Up and Use Web Visitors

Web Visitors identifies eligible companies visiting a website you own or manage and can prepare relevant outreach based on their activity. Not every visitor can be identified; matching depends on available data, privacy settings, consent signals, traffic source, and region.

Before you begin

Make sure you:

  • are authorized to add tracking to the website;
  • have access to the website editor or tag manager;
  • understand your website's privacy and consent requirements; and
  • have an active sending mailbox available for outreach.

Open Web Visitors

Open Home and select the Web Visitors panel. The panel remains available on the PodPitch Home page even when the feature opens in a separate workspace.

Install the tracking script

  1. Select the website setup option.
  2. Enter the website domain.
  3. Copy the tracking script generated for that domain.
  4. Add it immediately before the closing </head> tag on the pages you want to track, or use your website platform's supported custom-code method.
  5. Publish the website changes.
  6. Return to Web Visitors and select Check if script is installed.

Each website has its own script. Do not reuse a script from another domain or account.

When installation succeeds, PodPitch displays Tracking script verified.

Create the campaign automatically

During setup, the automatic campaign option is enabled by default. After verification, PodPitch can:

  • research the connected website;
  • create a tailored visitor-outreach campaign; and
  • turn on Smart Mode at 5 pitches per day.

When this finishes, you should see confirmation that the campaign was created and Smart Mode is active.

Turn the automatic option off before verification if you want to review the website setup without launching outreach. Before leaving Smart Mode on, review the campaign's audience, drafts, sending mailbox, schedule, and instructions.

Set a Daily Visitor Limit

Identifying a visitor uses available visitor-outreach capacity. Use the Daily Visitor Limit card to control how many eligible visitors can be identified each day.

  • No limit applies unless you set one.
  • Visitors above the daily limit are skipped.
  • Skipped visitors are not held in a queue for a later day.

Choose a limit that protects the account from using too much capacity during an unexpected traffic spike.

Review visitor activity

Available records may include company or contact details, pages viewed, source, visit time, and tags. Missing fields do not necessarily mean the installation is broken.

Check that:

  • recent visits are arriving;
  • the correct domain and important pages are tracked;
  • traffic sources look reasonable; and
  • campaign targeting matches the people you want to contact.

Review the outreach

Open the campaign created for the website and review a sample before increasing its daily budget. Confirm the recipient, company context, claims, links, sender, signature, and follow-ups.

A website visit alone does not make every message relevant. Refine targeting when the identified people or companies do not match the intended audience.

Troubleshooting

The script will not verify

Confirm that the script is published on the live domain and is not blocked by a consent manager, content-security policy, caching layer, or website builder.

Few visitors are identified

Compare total website traffic with eligible identified traffic. Not every visit can be matched.

Historical visitors are missing

Do not assume visitors from before installation can be recovered. Contact Support for the account's current backfill options.

The campaign is not sending

Check Smart Mode, the campaign's daily budget, the connected mailbox, the schedule, available capacity, and whether eligible visitors are being identified.

Need help?

Message Support through the PodPitch dashboard and include the domain, verification status, campaign name, and a screenshot of the affected view. Never send website passwords, mailbox passwords, or authentication codes in chat.
