📍 How Podcast Location Targeting Works in PodPitch

PodPitch supports country-level location targeting for podcasts. It does not currently provide structured filters for a region, state, province, or city.

Available podcast location options

In the podcast channel of an OmniCampaign, the location setting can be:

  • All — no country restriction
  • United States
  • United Kingdom
  • Canada

These controls apply to podcast targeting. Other media channels in the same OmniCampaign may use different targeting options.

What the location filter means

Podcast location data comes from the information available for each show. A country selection narrows your results, but it should not be treated as a guarantee of:

  • Where every host currently lives
  • Where a show records
  • Where most listeners are located
  • Whether every episode is relevant to a particular city or region

Always review the suggested shows before pitching, especially when geography is central to your campaign.

Can I target a state, province, region, or city?

Not with a dedicated podcast filter. PodPitch does not currently offer precise structured filters for places such as California, New England, Ontario, London, or Austin.

You can still improve geographic relevance:

  1. Open your OmniCampaign and go to the podcast targeting settings.
  2. Choose the closest available country option, or select All if the market is outside the available countries.
  3. Add the place and the reason it matters to your topics, keywords, or Smart Filtering instructions.
  4. Review the resulting shows and remove any that are not genuinely relevant.

For example, instead of using only “Denver,” describe what you need: “Podcasts covering Denver entrepreneurship, Colorado small businesses, or Rocky Mountain economic development.”

Geographic words can help PodPitch find shows about a place, but they do not create an exact city or state restriction.

Searching the Podcast Database by location

You can also use a location term when searching the Podcast Database. Combine it with a subject, audience, or industry for better results.

Examples:

  • “Austin startup founders”
  • “Canadian personal finance”
  • “UK healthcare leadership”
  • “New York independent publishing”

A keyword match may describe a show’s subject matter rather than its physical base, so confirm the show’s fit before adding it to a campaign.

When precise local targeting is essential

For a strictly local campaign, use the country filter where available, make your Smart Filtering instructions specific, and manually review the final media list. You may also want to include local journalists, newsletters, or other media channels in the same OmniCampaign, since their available location data can differ from podcast data.

Need help?

If your results do not match the country you selected, contact the support team through the chat in your dashboard and include the campaign name plus one or two examples.
