📰 How to Optimize a Profile for Journalist Outreach in an OmniCampaign

Journalists are a media channel inside a PodPitch OmniCampaign, not a separate campaign product. The campaign uses the selected shared profile to understand the person, company, product, or story being pitched.

Start with accurate core information

Open the profile used by the OmniCampaign and confirm that it includes:

  • A clear bio or company description
  • Relevant expertise
  • Important achievements
  • Current products, services, research, or announcements
  • Approved links
  • Topics the profile can discuss confidently
  • Claims or subjects that must not appear

Write for someone who has never heard of the profile before.

Add journalist-ready proof

Journalists may evaluate a pitch without replying first. Give them enough information to verify the story.

Useful proof can include:

  • Relevant credentials
  • Original research or data
  • Previous media coverage
  • A press page
  • Published work
  • A company or personal website
  • Accurate audience or community information
  • A spokesperson's availability and areas of expertise

Only include claims that are current and supportable.

Separate profile facts from campaign strategy

The profile is the source of truth shared across the OmniCampaign. Journalist-specific angles belong in the campaign's journalist outreach settings or instructions.

For example:

  • Put a person's verified credentials in the profile.
  • Put the timely story angle in the news hook.
  • Put tone, required wording, and pitch rules in writing instructions.
  • Put publication and reporter preferences in journalist targeting.

Review perspective and sender details

Confirm whether the outreach should be written in first person or third person. Use the campaign's dedicated perspective control rather than trying to change perspective through the signature.

Sending addresses and signatures are managed under Email Addresses.

Refresh existing pitches

After changing material profile information:

  1. Save the profile.
  2. Open the OmniCampaign.
  3. Rewrite eligible pending pitches.
  4. Review several journalist pitches.
  5. Confirm names, claims, links, news hooks, sender details, and signatures.
  6. Enable Smart Mode only after the updated pitches are accurate.

Changes to a profile do not alter messages that have already been sent.
