🎯 How to Target Each Media Type in an OmniCampaign

OmniCampaigns are multimedia, but targeting is not identical across every media type. Review targeting separately for Podcasts, Journalists, Newsletters, and any other enabled media source.

Start with the campaign brief

Your campaign brief should clearly explain:

  • The topics and audiences you want
  • The profile's expertise and strongest angles
  • The kinds of opportunities you want
  • Subjects, outlets, or audiences you want to avoid

Targeting instructions determine who PodPitch recommends. Custom writing instructions determine how the outreach is written. Do not use writing instructions as a substitute for targeting.

Podcast targeting

Available podcast controls may include:

  • Topic or idea relevance
  • Estimated audience or listener ranges
  • Total audience reach
  • Publishing activity
  • Location or region where supported
  • Exclusions and recommendation feedback

Review the controls visible in your account. Do not assume a city filter or a strict episode-count filter exists unless it is shown in the current campaign.

Journalist targeting

Journalist targeting may include:

  • News hook or story angle
  • Recent topics or articles
  • Country, region, or city where supported
  • Outlet type
  • Audience or traffic range
  • Language and publication recency

Use a timely, specific news hook rather than broad keywords alone.

Newsletter targeting

Newsletter targeting may include:

  • Topic or category
  • Audience type
  • Subscriber or reach information
  • Publishing frequency
  • Publication or writer relevance

Improve future recommendations

When PodPitch asks why a target is not relevant, provide clear feedback. Skip or exclude poor fits using the controls available in the campaign.

If nearly all recommendations are wrong, keep the campaign Off, tighten the targeting, and contact Support before allowing automated outreach to continue.

Save and verify

After changing targeting:

  1. Save the settings.
  2. Confirm that future recommendations follow the new criteria.
  3. Treat recommendations outside a saved hard limit as an issue to investigate.
  4. Do not delete the campaign merely to reset targeting, because deletion may remove history or exclusions.
