How to Train PodPitch with Match Ratings

Match ratings tell PodPitch what your team considers relevant. Clear, consistent feedback helps future recommendations align more closely with the profile and campaign.

Rate a match

  1. Open the match from the campaign or review queue.
  2. Choose the positive or negative rating shown.
  3. Select the reason that best explains your decision.
  4. Add a short note when the available reasons do not capture the full context.
  5. Submit the rating.

Do not rate a match based only on whether you personally recognize the outlet. Review its audience, recent content, format, and connection to the profile first.

Give useful feedback

A useful reason identifies what made the match strong or weak. For example:

  • the audience is highly relevant;
  • recent coverage supports the campaign angle;
  • the outlet is too broad;
  • the topic appears only occasionally;
  • the media format is not appropriate; or
  • the person or outlet is not a fit for this profile.

Avoid vague notes such as “bad match.” Specific feedback gives PodPitch a clearer signal.

Rating, skipping, and excluding are different

  • Rate a match to provide relevancy feedback.
  • Skip a match when you do not want to use it in the current campaign.
  • Exclude a contact when your team should not pitch that person or outlet in eligible future campaigns.

A negative rating does not automatically create a team-wide exclusion. Likewise, excluding a contact is an operational decision, not a substitute for explaining why a match was irrelevant.

Keep feedback tied to the correct profile

Relevance can differ between clients or spokespeople. Rate the match from the campaign and profile where it was recommended.

If the match is appropriate for another profile, note that context instead of treating it as universally irrelevant.

Review the results

Continue reviewing new matches after submitting feedback. Ratings guide future recommendations, but they do not guarantee that every result will be relevant.

If results remain too broad:

  • review the campaign's targeting;
  • refine positive and negative instructions;
  • check media types and audience ranges; and
  • provide consistent rating reasons across the team.

Contact Support through dashboard chat if ratings are not saving or the same clearly irrelevant matches continue appearing.
